Seasonal Produce Markets
Held at the Community Hall once each season (next is the Autumn one Saturday 28th April 2012, 8am - noon). More than just a market, this is truly an event, which attracts many visitors and locals who chose to spend a few hours soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the "added extras".
The diverse range of produce for sale includes vegetable seedlings, fruit, vegetables,, plants and flowers, beautiful home -baked goods (including famous Nethercote cakes and quiches), jams & sauces, olives & olive oil, plus grass-fed beef, free-range chooks and eggs and smoked fish. While most of the stallholders are truly local Nethercotians, the only stipulation is that produce comes from within 250ks of Bega. Being not-for-profit, any funds raised are used towards improving future produce markets . Seed funding is available for anyone who wishes to grow specifically towards future markets; no obligation or risk and "no worries" if the crop fails.
Excellent coffee is available and the Nethercote Residents' Association cooks up great bacon and egg rolls. Musical entertainment will be provided by local Jazz trio "Easy Street" - back by ever-popular demand. A fun and informative cooking demonstration will happen again in the fabulous stainless-steel industrial kitchen.
